in Australia every town in every state has a Coles or Woolies, they dominate and there's pretty much zero competition, and they price fix which is complete bullshit.

But, there are some other options even though they tend to be a little more expensive. IGA operates as a franchise with owners able to decide on their own product lines and suppliers, because of this the IGA markets in country town tend to have the absolute best produce.

But my favourite is a family-owned market called Panetta Mercato that has 6 locations are Sydney. Easily the best produce anywhere in the city and by far. Also tons of great imports including Mexican and American hot sauces, French and Italian cheeses, fancy deli meats and frozen good like perogi and pelmeni and stuff. Bit more expensive of course but fuck this place is the tits. At the end of the day the managers are always out hocking the leftover melons and bananas at huge discounts because they don't want to just throw shit away and they can still make a buck.
