It makes me wonder why they didn't go to the effort of doing that, get a roughly ubiquitous shape, size and depth for the appliance. Then it can just tuck down into the bench when you don't want it, because they spent quite a lot of money in there and the materials, fittings aren't in any way shit. But I'm a firm believer than kitchen appliances are mostly temporary things that will at some point shit themselves and die horribly, so I don't get too attached to them.
