My classical poem dedicated to Grand Seiko:

In the realm of time, a legend unfolds,
Grand Seiko, master of craftsmanship untold.
With precision and grace, its hands do dance,
In symphony with moments, its beauty enhance.

From the workshops of Japan, a legacy grand,
Where skilled hands create, with precision in hand.
Each watch a masterpiece, a work of art divine,
A symbol of luxury, where craftsmanship does shine.

In stainless steel or gold, its design pristine,
A symbol of elegance, in every scene.
With movements so precise, each second a delight,
Grand Seiko, a watch that commands the light.

And as time marches on, Grand Seiko stands tall,
A beacon of excellence, for one and for all.
In the world of watches, it reigns supreme,
A timeless beauty, a horological dream.

Not him, but it’s mostly about the appeal of having a tiny, highly engineered bit of machinery on your wrist. Watches are not just used as tools, but also as pieces of jewelry. It’s nice to wind or adjust the watch, maybe see the movement through the caseback etc.

On a practical level quartz is definitely better, it’s cheaper, more accurate and allows for lighter, thinner watches. It does however require maintenance somewhat more often (as well as having a shit resale price ofc)

Anyways, nothing wrong with going with a high end quartz movement if you feel that you need the accuracy, many higher end watchmakers have some quartz watches with a very high accuracy of less than 10 seconds per year.

Alternatively go with a spring drive watch, which combines the two. It has a high accuracy due to using a quartz crystal, but a mechanical movement and does not require batteries.
