What you're describing is the "spirit" (Geist), which parasitizes the "soul" (Leben).
My views have diverged from Klages in many respects though.

You're right, but seele (soul) and Leben (life) point to similar things in Klage's philosophy. There is a dualistic antagonism between Geist (spirit) and seele in his philosophy.

I am a STEM major who dated a caregiver. She was very medically inquisitive. The old folks who were best and brightest decayed the worst. The most rugged types are the simpleton ogres. The reasoning is histological. Simple tissues are easy to repeat. Genius is aperiodic for all cell structures not just neurons. It makes many ripples in the body most observable in nerve structure. It also is spoken of at length by the old patients who have nothing to talk about with their fellow dinosaurs but their medical history. Smart is expensive. As far as culture is concerned a Japanese author sick of Japan's big brain super smart society will explain to you the lament of living a painfully overly academicized life. Why do we have invincible real estate elders who are richer than God for all intents and purposes? Why are we micromanaged by these mental phantasms as an impotent collective?
Our one intellect alone is not respected in the distributed intelligence of rotted slow economics. Low money velocity. Liquidity crisis. Old devouring young. We’re not evolved to do anything because there’s no purpose to evolution, just biological imperatives. The fact that we have faculties of abstract reasoning indicates that abstract reasoning was necessary for our survival. It isn’t something that arrived from somewhere outside the evolutionary chain and made us go crazy.
