I refuse to read The Last Battle a second time. I read it once, in Spanish, when I was a kid, and since then I have read The Chronicles of Narnia multiple times (specially The Horse and His Boy) but never The Last Battle.

>The Horse and His Boy
The comfiest for sure, and the best-plotted. It loses slightly through being set entirely in Narnia (so you don't get any of the cool travelling-to-another-world thing). I would put it just behind The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe overall.

>The Last Battle
Definitely has a sour tone. That's sort of the point I guess (you can't look for a happy ending in this world, only in the next one) but it's a bit miserable to see virtue punished page after page.
