Is the sapwood very pale while the heartwood is alot darker and reddish ? It would be another indication for taxus baccata, aslong with your report of the wood being dense (and strong and tough btw).

well Im eurofag and yews have been largely eradicated here, something about english making bows in an unsustainable manner. Still im familiar with the european yew and the european yew only. So from the leaves and all Id still say Taxus but the bark and wood mhm.

I also can only recognize yews. The berries are delicious. Don't eat the seeds, you'll go into shock and die :)
Where I'm from the rich people have yews in their gardens. They don't know why they do that. They genuinely don't know. It's an old remnant of how only the rich could even own yews because all other yews were cut down to make bows lol.
i have found a single yew in the wild. It's going to grow a lot of seeds i hope, although it's unlikely as there aren't any other yews around. If it does grow seeds I will be actively spreading them.
