persona 3 requires you to go too long between saves for the ai to be considered bad. it's a 90 hour game. sorry, but it mostly works.

That's not true: Dragon Quest 4 or Secret of Mana are example of acclaimed jrpgs where you don't control directly your mates. The game is also balanced about that limitation. Besides, the port 'fixed' that for you, but I don't really see the point.

>> No.10909376

you have literally to select knock down to attack and support/heal when you want a buff or healing. it's not hard and only retards get filtered by the lack of direct commands.

I kind of like the idea that your party members are their own people and you can't control them in an rpg. I don't get why people hate the idea so bad. Probably another example of people conflating the idea with the execution

>> No.10909668

>>10909664
because they're not people. they're just npc models programmed to do different things. at least in games where you control your party, including pre-3 persona, you had more control over what you can do and not be in baby mode, even though JRPGs are for babies anyway

the game in question is a dating sim. if you cant accept the people in the game as valid, you aren't the target audience.

I don't mind if it makes the song stand out. Also, at the time it came out, most games did not have j-pop soundtracks so something like this really was unique to the game.

Because they're really fucking stupid and an active detriment if you play at anything higher than normal. Not retro but it's like when people say "I don't know why people complain about Sheva's AI in RE5, she did everything she was supposed to for me". Those people didn't play on Professional.

If you have an idea, but you completely botch the execution to the point that it's a negative on the average player experience, then maybe the act of implementing it was itself not a good idea because you lacked the talent to follow through on it.
I refuse to engage in "it's good on paper" apologist bullshit. Make a better AI if you don't want me having control.

Innocent Sin is arguably the easiest game in the series because of how overpowered it is to be able to change out everyone's persona on top of in general being easier than P1/EP

All I came to realize is most people are nostalgia-filled nitpicky bitches because outside of remakes that legitimately ruined that made the original good like the Turtles in TIme one, they're usually just being whiny bitches who would've loved said remake if it came out 20 years ago.

>> No.10909794

but that wasn't due to th eability to control your whole party. a good difficult JRPG would know how to balcance the game better and actually make you be able to control your entire team and having to use them really well in order to win. 3-5 just takes control away from the player.

Nocturne's Hard difficulty can fuck you over really fucking bad in the first hour not because of anything you did wrong but because of sheer RNG due to enemies having a higher chance of both ambushing you and critting
