I'm a tourist that watches the occasional vtuber stuff, the exact kind of person that's hated here. And after seeing all the freak shit, the corpo tribalism, "unicorn" stuff and other aberrant behavior, I have a question.
You know how in the 19th century people with hideous deformities were displayed in county fairs and circuses for the amusement of the masses?
Is this board basically that? Or is it all ironic and people just shitposting and trolling for the lols?

That's for sure a big disconnect you're getting.
Like, there may be a lot of catalog posts, but something like 75% of all discussion or more on this board is done in the general threads. Basically, if you're not in a general for a Vtuber corpo, or a concept, or a group of indies or anything like that, you're in the wildlands of shitposting and worthlessness for the most part. OCCASIONALLY something decent comes up out there, but it's rare.
Also, I don't think you got "Panopticon" right? Panopticon is a prison where everyone is being watched from only a single place that can view it all.
